Today is day 1 of the Quest for more PAX monies. In my endeavor to save more money for PAX souvenirs I have take on the brave mission of eating budget frozen dinner as opposed to my normal diet of take-out/restaurants.
Today lunch was Hungry-Man Southwest Style Chicken. Grilled Chicken Patties in a Southwest Style Sauce with Baja Rice and Corn. It contains “1lb. of food”, which is good because I was pretty hungry.
I was expecting a microwave meal to be quick but it took a good 10 minutes to prepare. So it wasn’t any faster than a take out joint. But at an even 3 dollars it was significantly cheaper then even a cheap value meal.
So how does it stack up flavor wise. It was plenty of flavor. Unfortunately most of the flavor was nasty. The “chicken meat” patties tasted ok, or at least on par with what I was expecting. The baja rice was just nasty I couldn’t even finsihed it. The suprise winner was the corn. The corn was suprisingly good. I probably won’t buy this particular meal again.
Nutrition time, I looks like this meal has 660 calories. Honestly I don’t kow if that is a lot or not. I think the average peson should consume 2200 calories a day so that sounds about right. 22grams of fat, 7 of which are saturated. 65mg of cholesterol, not too bad. 1460mg of sodium!! that is 65% of the recommended daily allowance.
To wash it all done I had an Albertson’s Diet Cherry Max Cola. I bought a 12 pack for a dollar. So for 8 cents I (looks at nutritional label)… nothing. I will report in tomorrow if this meal was filling or not. I am not hungry right now but that might be in part because the rice was so nasty.
