An Extra Day: A Why Not Experiment.

Tomorrow morning at 6:00a I plan to start an experiment. I plan to get 15 complete wake sleep cycles with a 90 minute power nap throughout my 2 weeks vacation. You will notice that on the 15th cycle I wake up at the normal time. Well time to get to sleep.

WOW - A pleasant suprise.

Have you ever had a feature sneak up on you. You do something on accident and then realize you discovered something. Well that just happened to me. I was using Chrome (the new google browser) and accidently dragged one of the tab off of the browser and it created a new window. This is a feature I have wanted ever since my first tab browsing experience. I know it isn’t anything special btu I love it when things like this happen.

Chainmaille is Child’s Play

Liger, an excellent Enforcer at PAX is planning to make Gabe and Tycho themed chainmaille shirts. The shirts will be donated to the Child’s Play charity. She needs a bit of help buying the supplies. I encourage anyone who can to visit her site and donate monies.

Portal NES in a Cartridge.

The crew over at Benheck have done it again. This time darkeru has embedded a NES in a NES cartridge. To be fair it is not a full fledged NES but a 99-1 emulator. But still this is dang impressive. Congrats on finishing the project and making it on hack-a-day.

Messin’ with Tourists.

The winners of the 2008 Prix Ars Electronica - International Competition of Cyberarts have been announced. Two of the winners really stuck out to me.

Julius von Bismarck’s Fulgurator that can project an image into a photograph with out the photographer’s knowledge. It is almost an anti-persistence of vision device. Instead it displays an image so fast the eye does not pick it up but it times the display to coincide with the camera’s flash.

Nuage Vert came up with a project that can turn a cloud into a canvas that can be painted on with lasers.

Limbo of the Lost “borrowed” art assets.

I was stubling around neogaf and came across this gem of a forum thread “Limbo of the Lost stole from Oblivion, Morrowind, UT2K4, Diablo, Silent Hill, more?“. It looks like Limbo of the Lost borrowed (aka stole) art asset from a laundry list of games ranging for Unreal to Oblivion to Diablo. I have linked to two if the images and you make the call. Are they similar? Is that the same picture of a vampiric mayor in the back ground?

I would say it is common pratice to look at your sector of the video game industry for inspiration but this is down right theft (coincidentally one of the games they stole from is named Thief).

I really need to go to the Tokyo Toy one of these years. They always have interesting/innovating toys. Here is an Ultraman statue made of tiny Ultramen.
